Although Voice-over-IP services are excellent for voice communication, they are simply not suited for transmitting alarm system data to your alarm monitoring center. In fact, many alarm companies simply do not accept customers who use Voice-over-IP based on performance and reliability issues.

DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTERS operates over standard Cable Modem or DSL Broadband Internet connections, and works with any alarm system capable of sending signals using the Contact ID format.
 
DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTERS requires no changes to your Subscribers existing alarm system. Simply plug the adapter into your Subscribers network, and plug the alarm panel into the adapter. (Instead of the VoIP or Standard telephone line), and your Subscribers alarm will be routed over Broadband directly into American Digital Monitoring.

DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTERS even offers Line Security, a new security measure not available with standard telephone line hookups. Our servers are in constant communication with our DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTERS installed at your Subscribers home or business. If it should lose contact with our monitoring center, our E-Notify service can alert you in a matter of minutes. This extra security measure is only possible through the always-on, always-connected nature of the DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTER.

Some Common Questions

Q: With the DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTER, when my alarm system places a call to your central station, does it go through my Voice-over-IP service?
A: No. the DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTER operates directly through your Broadband Internet Connection, and does not use your Voice-over-IP service. It runs alongside, rather than through, your Voice-over-IP services.

Q: If I don't have ANY Phone service, including Voice-over-IP service, can I still use the DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTER?
A: Yes, as long as you have Broadband Internet. Even for customers who have regular telephone lines, the DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTER offers the additional convenience of event reporting (such as opens and closes) in real-time without seizing your telephone line. In addition, the DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTER offers the additional protection of Line Security, not available with standard telephone hookups.

Q: Why is it unreliable to send alarm signals through my Voice-over-IP provider, and how does the DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTER make a difference?
A: When your alarm system tries to transmit a signal through your Voice-over-IP telephone service, it is handled like any other voice phone call in the following fashion:
  1. A hardware device (VOIP Modem) at your location captures the audio from your panel and translates it into data.
  2. This data is sent over Broadband Internet to servers operated by your Voice-over-IP provider.
  3. Your Voice-over-IP provider then re-transmits this data to a regional data center located in the city you are dialing (where your alarm monitoring company resides).
  4. The regional data center will "pick up" a standard telephone line in the destination city, and dial your alarm monitoring company.
  5. Once the alarm monitoring center answers the call, your Voice-over-IP company continues to be a middle-man for the entire alarm reporting event.
In the standard Voice-over-IP scenario, the data sent by your security system goes through so many "hops", and is translated back and forth between Internet data and audio so many times, that the reliability of the conversation is reduced to almost zero.

The DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTER network is better because it handles alarm event reporting as follows:
  1. The DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTER at your Subscribers location captures the signal from the alarm panel and translates it into IP data.
  2. This IP data is instantly sent over the Internet to remote servers routed directly into American Digital Monitoring receivers.
The main reason why the DIGITAL BROADBAND ADAPTER is more reliable is that the alarm signal is transmitted directly from your Subscribers home or business to a American Digital Monitoring Receiver to be immediately processed, and there is no transmission of your Subscribers alarm using the VoIP telephone lines.

While American Digital does provide FREE opening & close reporting, for an additional $10.00 per month we can also offer you total access control with restricted access by pass card identification for afterhours entry. This service also includes late closing notification on any alarm system that fails to be armed at a certain time.

CELLULAR MONITORING
DIRECT CONNECT or BACKUP

Depending on what service you use, our rates for CELULAR BACK-UP may be FREE, $5.00 or $10.00 additional per month. Some services allow you to bill your Subscriber for the service and will report into the alarm center with the SAME ACCOUNT number as the DIGITAL REPORTING side of the alarm. For this there is no additional fee. Then there are some services, such as ALARM-NET that require a higher level of security and will report into our center on a separate account number and must be 'linked' to the DIGITAL REPORTING side of the alarm. Please contact our sales office to receive a specific quote based on the type of reporting service you want.

2 WAY VOICE ALARM REPORTING
RESIDENTIAL ACCOUNTS ONLY

It easy to include 2 way voice monitoring to your service. Recommended in applications where elderly or disabled Subscribers are involved. (Additional Fee for this service: +$3.00 per account selected.)

TAPE DIALER / VOICE ALARM REPORTING
USES CALLER-ID TECHNOLOGY

Some alarms still have tape dialer reporting formats, plus some of the newer do it yourself Subscribers are looking for a monitoring center to be on their voice dialers in the event their neighbors don’t answer their call for help. American Digital is one of the only centers that can take these calls as easily as if they were digital format using caller I.D. Technology. (Additional Fee for this service: +$3.00 per account selected.)

ELEVATOR / EMERGENCY REPORTING
INCLUDES ALL HOT SHOT PHONE DIALERS

From Elevator phones to Parking Lot and Highway Emergency phones your Subscribers can get it all through American Digital. Using caller I.D. Technology, we can identify the caller before they even say a word and have all the information needed at our fingertips. (Additional Fee for this service: +$3.00 per account selected.)

VIDEO VERIFICATION REPORTING
ON ALARM OR SCHEDULED 'TOURS'

Have your alarm conditions verified with VIDEO VERIFICATION. While the use of video verification cannot STOP the alarm condition, it can assist in the determination if an actual crime in progress or not. Records of all activity are retained to protect all parties for liability. (Additional Fee for this service: +$10.00 for basic service per account selected.)
